encaustic siblings and a mini mountain

i made these two mini encaustics today.  not the usual diptych - but they look like siblings,,, like they should stay together.   each piece has a secret between me and it,,, well, i told my husband...the secrets... i know that's vague,,, but that's what makes art so intimate between the work and the creator. :)

"devoting yourself to something means shutting out other things." -austin kleon

"solo entities like artists and writers need to put thought into leverage.  and we need to think through what we hook into.  we're passionate beings. And we're sensitive. hooking into problems/disputes, robs us of our energy and momentum."     - rod mciver

last weekend when i was making encaustic medium, i used some of the left over oil paint to paint this 1 1/2" x 1 1/2" mini canvas,,, i have this thing about purple mountains!

"the violets in the mountains have broken the rocks." -tennessee williams

we had a great weekend!!  our house was cleaned,,, we gardened, ate great food, watched a good movie, The Conspirator,, hiked twice,,, and i created art.  i found a really neat cocoon too.  i'm amazed at the strength of these little structures.

i wish everyone a peaceful and creative week...
