Myrtle, Oliver and Poppy

a few weeks ago i made 'Myrtle.'
i think i made a man for her this weekend,,,
i'm calling him 'Oliver.'
they look like a pair, don't they?
 (encaustic with embedded items)

went into the 'Poppy Forest' this evening - (that's what i call it, anyway).

~ in the wichita mountain wildlife refuge ~

yesterday was very warm - today was cool, gray and windy,,,
it's hard to photograph these beauties with their big petals blowing in the wind.
i love the strong oklahoma winds - but they can ruin photo ops!

they're called Prickly Poppy (Argemone intermedia)

see what i mean,,, about gray day?
most of the prickly poppies were actually closed -
