Winter Solstice on the Prairie

The Cross that spoke to St. Francis of Assisi
The San Damiano cross is a reproduction of the crucifix through which God spoke to Saint Francis of Assisi in the year 1205, saying “Go, Francis, and repair my Church which, as you see, is falling into ruin.”
Santa Fe, NM

Happy Solstice dear friends!

We're in a wintry mix here on the sw prairie.  It went from 70 to 30 degrees in one day.
Our post oaks are swaying under the weight of ice and some look like they're going to
fall right over.  I'm going to venture into this icescape later.

We're cozy and warm inside with candle-light and sparkling lights and comforting foods.
This is the start of a long holiday break too.  Zody is in lap-dog mode already.

We moved into our new house two years ago around this time.  Our home is solid
and sits on this beautiful landscape,,, which I never take for granted.

We have a tradition - we try to find Christmas ornaments wherever we travel.
And this year we added Italy to our country cedar tree -
The San Damiano cross in Assisi which was a marvelous sight in person.

I wish you a beautiful solstice.

  3. Such an amazing landscape: beautiful! Thank you for sharing the magic. Can't believe you can stand those temperatures in only a jeans and a coat.
