Sometimes God calms the sea, and sometimes he calms the sailor.

It's that high season where we're enjoying sailing and swimming in Lake Lawtonka. :)
Our Dubcek has a very cheerful sail of blue, yellow, orange and pink.

Morning Star - Haiku & Painting

A morning star shone
Over Prairie Hill painting
Light into darkness

A few days ago I woke at exactly 4:00 a.m., got a drink of water, glanced out the back window and saw a bright star hanging low over prairie hill. I painted the impression and spent a few nights looking for the star again… but too many storms, clouds and bright moon changed the scene. I'm convinced it was Venus though, the planet which rises a couple of hours before the sun.

Crows - A sequence Haiku

To the tree below
The crows have called each other
For morning counsel

As the sun stretches
These heavyweights on dead limbs
Cry, haw, haw, haw, haw

Haw, haw, haw, haw, then
Three forms become still as black
Paper silhouettes

Inspired by my observation of birds
communicating at the base of Prairie Hill
one hot morning.  :)
